Havana, October 21 (RHC)--The Cuban Ministry of Economy and Planning has approved 72 new Micro, Small, and Medium-size Enterprises (MSMEs), 69 private and three state-owned, and a non-agricultural cooperative.

One month after the entry into force of the legal norms on the improvement of these economic actors, 234 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and seven non-agricultural cooperatives have been approved.

Of the MSMEs, 227 are private, and seven are state-owned.

According to the Ministry, 51% are reconversions of pre-existing businesses, and 49% are new ventures. They cover various sectors of the country's socio-economic development, including food production, construction materials, furniture, textiles, clothing, footwear, plastics, and cleaning and products.

Likewise, computer programming activities, materials recovery, and recycling are also included.

Of the total, 17 are part of local development projects, 11 have previously carried out export operations, and four are hosted by Havana's Science and Technology Park.
