Havana, October 29 (RHC)-- The Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP)  approved 81 additional micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), of which 80 are private, and one is state-owned, and two other non-agricultural cooperatives.

According to the MEP website, 324 applications from these economic actors have been approved a little more than a month after the process began. Of these MSMEs, 307 are private, and eight are state-owned, and there are also nine cooperatives.

The economic activities to be developed by these legal entities cover food production; manufacturing of construction materials, furniture, textiles, clothing, footwear, plastics, and cleaning products; computer programming activities; recovery of materials and recycling.

In total, it is estimated that the approved economic actors will generate 4,468 new jobs in the economy.

Of the MSMEs scattered throughout the country's provinces, 22 are part of local development projects, 15 have previously carried out export operations, and four are hosted by Havana's Science and Technology Park.
