Paris, July 5 (RHC)-- Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment Ileana Núñez said in Paris that the fine imposed by Washington against France’s BNP Paribas bank clearly reveals the extraterritorial nature of the U.S. economic blockade against the Caribbean island nation.

On June 30th, the U.S. Departments of Justice and the Treasury imposed a nearly 9 billion dollar fine on the French bank for doing transactions with countries under U.S. sanctions, which was described by the Cuban official as a violation of International Law.

The Cuban deputy minister is visiting France as part of a European tour to promote the new Cuban Foreign Investment Law and the Special Development Zone set up at the Mariel Harbor, some 50 kilometers west of Havana.

Núñez, who heads a delegation made up of representatives of the Cuban sectors of energy, mines, tourism and industry, already visited 10 cities in the U.K., Portugal, Spain, Italy and Germany.

The delegation is concluding the tour in Paris.
