Havana, November 12 (RHC)-- Cuba's Ministry of Economy and Planning on Thursday approved 104 new applications for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and non-agricultural cooperatives.

According to the ministry, 100 of them correspond to private MSMEs, two to state-owned, and two to non-agricultural cooperatives.

With this decision, 520 economic actors have been approved since the process began at the end of September. Of the MSMEs, 497 are private, 11 are state-owned, and 12 are cooperatives.

In terms of origin, 56 percent are reconversions of pre-existing businesses, and 44 percent are new ventures.

In total, it is estimated that these economic actors will generate 7,704 new jobs in the economy.

Of all approved, 34 are part of local development projects, 19 have previously carried out export operations, and six are hosted by Havana's Science and Technology Park.
