Havana, December 16 (RHC)--The European Parliament has no moral authority to condemn Cuba when it ignores serious and flagrant human rights violations in many places, said the Caribbean nation's foreign minister, Bruno Rodriguez.

Through his Twitter account, the Minister of Foreign Affairs assured that with this position, the legislative body "reveals its link with destabilizing plans against our country promoted with U.S. federal funds."

The Caribbean government recently warned that the debate convened for this Thursday on "the situation in Cuba" is part of the space that some MEPs open in the European Parliament to a small group of Cuban citizens who play the game to Washington's goal of imposing a regime change on the island.

In this regard, Portuguese MEP Sandra Pereira considered that the new resolution promoted against Cuba in the European Parliament was an attempt to hinder the normalization of relations between the island and the European Union.

Pereira questioned the fact that the European Parliament is dealing for the third time in its last six plenary sessions with alleged human rights violations, which she also attributed to the attempt to hide the impact of the U.S. blockade applied to Cuba.

For his part, Spanish MEP Manu Pineda described as 'good servants of the United States the European Parliament members who presented a resolution against Cuba on alleged human rights violations in that forum.

"The only violation of human rights that Cuba suffers are the more than 60 years of a criminal blockade imposed by the United States, and that you do not even mention," he said in the plenary session.
