Havana, January 3 (RHC)--The president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (ANPP), Esteban Lazo, thanked the solidarity with the Caribbean country of legislators from around the world in messages published today on the parliament's website.

Lazo greeted the expressions of affection on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of the Cuban Revolution, celebrated on January 1, and the support of friendly countries against the U.S. blockade and in the confrontation with Covid-19.

The head of the ANPP highlighted the solidarity received from parliamentarians from Russia, China, Vietnam, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Iran, the Saharawi Arab Republic, and Syria, among other countries, recently.

"We cannot fail to express our gratitude for the permanent support to the battle for the end of the genocidal blockade, for the timely donations we received from your government, as well as for the close friendship between our parliaments and peoples," he expressed in a letter to Valentina Matvienko, head of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly.

In another message sent to Li Zhanshu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of China, Lazo recalled the virtual meeting held last May to discuss the projections for 2022 in the relations between the two legislative bodies.

"I am convinced that in the new year, the beautiful history of our ties of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation will grow to higher levels for the benefit of our peoples and our Socialism," he said.

In another message sent to his Venezuelan counterpart, Jorge Rodríguez, the president of the Cuban legislative body, described 2021 as a year of significant threats and difficulties but also of lessons and victories for both countries.

"Our peoples have been able to resist the onslaught of imperialism and, once again, we have demonstrated the importance of unity and solidarity," he considered.

Likewise, he ratified the support of the largest Caribbean island to Nicaragua. He congratulated the Central American nation for its triumphs in 2021 in a letter sent to Gustavo Porras, head of the National Assembly of the neighboring country.
