Havana, Jan 25 (RHC)-- A new shipment of nearly 20 tons of medical supplies and medicines arrived Monday night at José Martí International Airport in Havana, as part of Russia's solidarity aid in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic in Cuba.

"The selfless help of the Russian government and people is highlighted, an expression of the historical ties of fraternity and friendship that characterize our relations," said Cuban First Deputy Foreign Trade Minister Ana Teresita Gonzalez during the donation delivery ceremony, which Russian Ambassador to Cuba,  Andrey A. Guskov, also attended.

"Despite the pandemic, we have a very intensive political dialogue that is developing at all levels and in all spheres. We highly appreciate the very efficient interaction between our countries on global and regional issues, based on many similarities and broad coincidences of the approaches of both states to current international problems," commented Russian Ambassador to Cuba Andrei Guskov.

This is the fifth flight with humanitarian aid sent by Moscow to the Caribbean nation since December. This shipment is valued at some 2 million dollars.
