Tegucigalpa, January 28 (RHC)-- Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes Mesa met with Honduran President Xiomara Castro on Thursday, the day she was sworn in.
Mesa said on Twitter that he had the high honor of being received by the president, that he congratulated her on her electoral victory, and wished her success in her mandate.
He added that Cuba welcomed with enthusiasm this victory of the Honduran people.
Xiomara Castro is the first woman ever to hold the presidency of Honduras and the Candidate to have received the highest vote in a presidential race in the Central American country.
She was sworn in on Friday with the attendance of foreign representatives, among them the Vice President of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, and U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.
