Cuba registers 1340 new COVID-19 infections and eight deaths

Havana, February 6 (RHC)-- The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) reported at the end of Saturday 1,340 new cases of COVID-19 and eight deaths in the last 24 hours due to complications with COVID-19.

At the end of yesterday, a total of 18,267 patients had been admitted, 10,823 were suspected, 180 were under surveillance and 7,264 were confirmed active.

For COVID-19, a total of 17,009 samples were taken for surveillance during the day. The country accumulated 12 million 786,630 samples taken and 1 million 053,560 positive.

Of the total number of cases (1,340): 1,311 were contacts of confirmed cases; 15 with source of infection abroad; 14 with no source of infection specified. Of the 1,340 diagnosed cases, 748 were female and 592 were male.

Of the 1,340 positive cases, 7.2% (96) were asymptomatic, making a total of 143,774, representing 13.6% of those confirmed to date.

Of the 1,340 cases diagnosed, they belong to the following age groups: under 20 years of age (282), 20 to 39 years of age (383), 40 to 59 years of age (385), and 60 years of age and over (290).
