World Peace Council Executive Secretary begins visit to Cuba

Havana, February 23 (RHC)-- The executive secretary of the World Peace Council (WPC), Iraklis Tsavdaridis, begins visiting Cuba this Wednesday. While on the island, he will be briefed about the island's scientific results in the confrontation with Covid-19 informed the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.

The visit will deal with topics of interest such as strengthening peace and the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States over six decades ago on the Caribbean nation.

They will also discuss the preparation of the 22nd World Assembly of the WPC - scheduled for the end of August this year - and the organization of the regional meeting for the Americas and the Caribbean, of which Cuba is the coordinator.

The 7th International Seminar on Peace and for the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases will also be on Tsavdaridis' program of activities on the island.

While in Havana, the executive secretary of the WPC will also hold talks with political and governmental authorities, representatives of the civil society, and directors of ICAP, an organization that since last October took over the Cuban Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of the Peoples.

Tsavdaridis is a member of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and has visited Cuba on more than 50 occasions, invited by various organizations.
