Havana, May 26 (RHC)-- The Health Commission of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO)  unanimously declared its support for greater integration and cooperation in this area at the end of a meeting held in Havana.

A three-point declaration, read by the president of the working group, Cuban congressman Luis Velázquez Pérez, recognizes the importance of achieving greater unity, collaboration, and coordination to cope with current health challenges.

The statement supports efforts to draw up a Plan of Action for Health and Resilience in the Americas until 2030, based on the principle of not excluding any nation in the continent and taking into account the experience and contributions that countries in the area can make.

It also considers it essential to include in any Plan of Action proposal core issues, such as the structural causes of the precariousness of health systems, the need for substantial funding, and broader and more effective collaboration.

According to the text, all this aims to make it possible to confront situations such as the one caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the post-Covid-19 effects, and the new health crises that are on the horizon.

The document warns about the complex situation humanity is experiencing, characterized by health, economic and environmental crises, and the increase in inequalities and wars, among other challenges.
