Havana, June 9 (RHC)-- The publication on Thursday of new regulations on U.S. travel and remittances to Cuba do not constitute a significant change in the essence of the U.S. economic, financial and commercial blockade against the Caribbean island.

Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, tweeted that the regulations on the measures announced on May 16 by the U.S. administration on Cuba confirm their extremely limited character and that the full enforcement of the economic blockade and that the most aggressive aspects of Trump's measures remain in place.

U.S. President Joseph Biden announced lifting several restrictions concerning the island, which was part of his electoral campaign promises.

With today's publication in the Federal Register of these new guidelines, the possibility for U.S. citizens to travel to Cuba is effective, but always in groups, for educational purposes, and under certain restrictions.

Americans continue to be unable to engage in tourism on the island, and transactions related to their trips remain restricted.

Concerning remittances, the limit of one thousand dollars every three months has been eliminated, but the characteristics of this process, which requires special licenses for the operation of the U.S. companies involved, have not been specified.
