Havana, June 14 (RHC)--Cuban President analyzed the difficult economic situation the nation is going through in a meeting with all the country's governors.

"We have the conviction that we will always win, even in the worst of situations; we have the capacity, and we will do it," said Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez at the meeting held at the Palace of the Revolution.

The President referred to inflation, shortages, production problems, and the work it costs shipping companies to deliver on time the resources that have been contracted and paid.

To this, which is affecting the whole world after the pandemic,  in Cuba, we have to add the power generation situation and the effects of the heavy rains of the last weeks, which were beneficial for certain crops and the reservoirs but have caused damage to houses and roads.

The President warned that heavy rains are expected again in the west and center of the country in the coming days.

In the dialogue with the top government authorities of all provinces and the special municipality of the Isle of Youth, Diaz-Canel stressed the need to address the problems in-depth, with great sensitivity to the problems of the population, with intelligence and without discouragement.

He warned that leaders need to be alert to any dissatisfaction of the population to address immediately, explain, argue and, where possible, solve.

"We must always win with the truth," emphasized Díaz-Canel, reiterating that the leaders must be at the base, linked to the fundamental programs and the population.

Referring to the power shortages, he said that "blackouts will continue in the coming days," due to plant breakdowns, fuel shortages for distributed generation, and maintenance being carried out to enter the summer season in a better situation.

The Cuban President also referred to the profound damage caused by the siege policy of the United States. "We can assure our people that what is causing us the most damage today is the intensification of the blockade, which is still permanent, still in place."

Let everyone be sure, he affirmed, that we are working hard to overcome all these adversities.

"These problems are not caused by negligence, nor by lack of concern, nor because there is an intention to bother or not to attend to each problem."

On the contrary, he added, some people work non-stop, looking for any opportunity to find a solution or mitigate any complex situations.
