Havana, July 19 (RHC)-- Nearly a hundred members of the 32nd Friendshipment Caravan organized by IFCO-Pastors for Peace are in Havana. The interreligious group is one of the most emblematic exponents of solidarity between the peoples of the United States and Cuba.

The contingent is mainly made up of young people between 18 and 30 who are visiting Cuba for the first time. The group will celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the caravans, according to a Prensa Latina.

President Miguel Díaz-Canel welcomed them on Twitter.

"Welcome to Cuba, dear brothers and sisters. Thank you for these thirty years of love, solidarity, and accompaniment to our people in their most challenging battles.,¨he wrote.'

The visit program includes participation in conferences and meetings with personalities from different spheres, as well as with the population of the provinces of Havana, Matanzas, and Cienfuegos.

Before the trip, the members toured more than 20 cities on three routes throughout the United States until they gathered in Miami, the departure point for Havana. In all these locations, they obtained donations and funds for the purchase of medicines for the Cuban people to "help alleviate the effects of the U.S. government embargo," the source points out.

A central event is scheduled for July 29 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Caravan.

Pastors for Peace has been making trips to Cuba since 1992, transporting humanitarian aid and medicines. The U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has imposed sanctions for violating the Treasury Department's Trading with the Enemy Act.
