Paris, July 28 (RHC)-- The Cuba Coopération France (CubaCoop) Association denounced today that the United States still does not accept the reality of a sovereign and independent island, which freed itself from its exploitative domination.

"The powerful neighbor, which had made Cuba its colony by exploiting the resources and leaving the population in the greatest misery, never accepted to be expelled, and for more than 60 years has imposed on it a merciless economic, commercial and financial blockade," it stressed in its weekly publication La lettre électronique Hebdo.

Signed by Vice President Michel Humbert, the message of the organization created in 1995 to stimulate commercial ties and rapprochement between France and the Caribbean country also pointed out that Washington resorts to slander and propaganda to denigrate a government democratically elected by the population.

The triumph of the Revolution, on January 1, 1959, put an end to decades of U.S. domination over the island, with the overthrow of the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.

In that sense, CubaCoop highlighted the celebration two days ago in the largest of the Antilles of the National Rebellion Day, which recalls the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks on July 26, 1953, events that traced the path to the Revolution.

The Lettre électronique Hebdo echoes the speech delivered in the central province of Cienfuegos by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, on the national day, and in particular the social achievements reached by that process, despite the aggressions of the United States.

Likewise, he highlighted the President's expression that Cuba is not alone, and in this regard he pointed out the world solidarity with the island in the face of the blockade and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In this context of recognition of the support the Caribbean country enjoys, the French association shared with its subscribers that in its most recent Board of Directors, it approved a road map with cooperation projects for this year and the next.

Over the last 25 years, CubaCoop has materialized dozens of projects to support Cuba's socioeconomic development in sectors such as food security, water, sanitation, health and culture.

Among its current priorities, the organization promotes, through decentralized cooperation, the interest of French entrepreneurs and entities in the Cuban market, based on business and investment.
