Havana, July 26 (RHC), – More than a moral encouragement, to host the main event for the July 26th means a commitment to the Homeland, said Jose Antonio Valeriano, a member of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee (CC CCP) and its first secretary in the province of Artemisa, today during the celebrations of the Day of National Rebellion in this territory.

The leader recalled that many of the Artemisa youth, who stormed the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Garrisons on a day like today 61 years ago, came from very poor neighborhoods.

To the fighters here today we assure that your province is not the same, but is transformed, because it is a land of tradition but also of futures and hopes, he said in the presence of Cuban President Raul Castro.

To do this, we have the privilege of that deep bay which already sees the bustle of ships embarking and disembarking, and only in its first stage has employed more than 1,500 workers and will be a contribution to the Cuban commercial sustainability for which a strict discipline and control will be needed, he stressed.

Valeriano stressed the experimental nature of governance models implemented both in Artemisa and Mayabeque, whose results will guide the improvement of the socio-economic model of Cuba.

Regarding the progress of this territory in the production areas, Abelardo Alvarez, president of the Antero Regalado Cooperative Credit and Service, recognized as National Vanguard, stressed the leading role of the province in providing vegetables, eggs, honey and pork to the capital and other territories.

We have achieved the purpose for which we were created, he said, a stable delivery plans compliance, the inclusion of women and young people in agriculture, and have the efficiency and profitability as premises.

Representing the pioneers, Wendy Ferrer, 6th grader in the Carlos Rodriguez elementary school thanked the present Moncada attackers for having fought for turning barracks into schools where they replaced henchmen with heroes, she said.

There were several cultural activities too during the celebrations, wrapped up by the speech of the Commander of the Revolution, Ramiro Valdes, member of the Politburo of the PCC and one of the Moncada attackers from this city.

The political act was presided over by Cuban President Raul Castro, with the attendance of prominent government officials, including Miguel Díaz Canel, First Vice President of Cuba, and José Ramón Machado Ventura, Cuban Vice President.
