Cuba and Barbados advocate strengthening cooperation

Havana, August 17 (RHC)-- The prime ministers of Barbados, Mia Mottley, and Cuba, Manuel Marrero, ratified Tuesday in Nassau the will to continue strengthening the historical ties of cooperation between the two nations.

During a meeting held in the context of the First Regional Meeting of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in preparation for the upcoming United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP27), both parties agreed to expand joint actions to improve the economies of their countries.

The Cuban head of government pointed out in his Twitter account that in the exchange, Mottley sincerely appreciated the help provided by Cuba in confronting the Covid-19 pandemic.

He added that "the Caribbean countries must continue to help each other, to be a single voice."

On this day, Marrero also spoke with the Premier of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, to whom he reiterated his interest in advancing the realization of bilateral cooperation projects and in strengthening ties of friendship.

The Cuban Prime Minister assured Dominica that can count on Cuba, a country that does not offer what it has to spare but shares what it has.

On his second day in Nassau, Marrero also spoke with the Bahamas Education Minister, Glenys Hanna-Martin, who expressed gratitude for Havana's collaboration in this field.

The Cuban head of government took part in the debates held at the First Regional Meeting of Heads of Government of CARICOM, , with a view to the 27th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations on Climate Change.
