New York, September 9 (RHC)-- Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernández de Cossío participated in the United Nations World Congress on Victims of Terrorism and expressed his country's firm condemnation of all acts, methods, and practices of terrorism, in all its forms and manifestations.

He stressed that as a result of terrorist acts, Cuba has suffered in the last 63 years the devastating experience of 3,478 Cuban fatalities and 2,099 injured and disabled.

The Cuban diplomat explained how the multiple acts of State terrorism committed against the Island were actions organized, supported, financed, and executed, mainly from U.S. territory, by the U.S. government or by individuals and organizations that act with impunity or receive the backing of that government.

He argued how violent acts in Cuba continue to be incited and financed from U.S. territory, even publicly, through digital networks.

"These have been reported through official and operational channels to the U.S. government and its law enforcement authorities," he said.

Fernandez de Cossio also stressed that there is no evidence or record linking Cuba to terrorist acts or the promotion or sponsorship of this scourge. However, arbitrarily and unilaterally, the U.S. State Department has included Cuba in a list of countries that allegedly sponsor international terrorism.

It added that this designation by the U.S. administration constitutes an action without any basis, authority, or international backing. They are trying to justify the economic blockade with which the United States has attempted to punish the Cuban people for more than six decades.

Cuba was the fifth country to become a State Party to the 19 international conventions on terrorism, recently raising to constitutional rank the political and legal commitment against this scourge, the publication concludes.
