Cuban vice president pays tribute to Angola's founding father

Luanda, September 16 (RHC)-- Salvador Valdés Mesa, vice president of Cuba, paid tribute Friday to the founding father and first president of the Republic of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, at the Independence Square in Luanda, the capital of that African country.

During the tribute to Cuba's great friend, he was accompanied by members of the Cuban embassy.

During the day, the vice president also visited Luanda cemetery to honor the internationalist fighter Raúl Díaz-Argüelles, who led the preparation of the Angolan forces and the first actions in which Cuban instructors fought alongside the soldiers of the Popular Armed Forces for the Liberation of Angola, in 1975.

"His example is a source of inspiration for all Cuban internationalists working in Angola and anywhere in the world, said Valdés Mesa.

He traveled to Angolas to participate in the inauguration on Thursday of the reelected president, João Lourenço.

The Cuban vice-president also posted on Twitter about his exchange with a representation of officials of the Caribbean embassy working in Angola.

In addition, he referred to a meeting with members of the Board of Directors of the Antillean Export Corporation (Antex). This trading company markets goods and services representing Cuban companies and institutions in developing their business in Angola.
