Havana, Sep 23 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez regretted the absence in that U.S. city of ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary Sacha Llorenti, who did not obtain a visa from the northern nation.

The decision made it impossible for Llorenti to attend the 22nd Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP).

The highest representative of the island's diplomacy described the action as totally unjustified.

The meeting of this regional integration organization was held on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly taking place in New York.

At the meeting, Rodriguez underscored the fundamental role of Latin American and Caribbean solidarity and integration to face international challenges, problems, and tensions, and the action of imperialism in the area.

"An increasingly interdependent world demands joint action in the face of major, old and new problems, which in Cuba's opinion, will not be solved unless the current dangerous and unjust international order is changed," he said.

He also condemned the tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba and Washington's hostility against other nations in the region, as well as the inclusion of the largest Antillean island in the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

The ALBA-TCP foreign ministers reaffirmed at the meeting the rejection of the imposition of unilateral coercive measures against sovereign states, in violation of the norms and principles of International Law and the United Nations Charter. (Source: PL)
