Cuba and Portugal advocate for expanding bilateral cooperation

Havana, Oct 25 (RHC) The governments of Cuba and Portugal ratified the willingness to continue expanding bilateral cooperation, at a meeting of Inter-Chancellery Political Consultations held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs -MINREX-, in our country.

 

According to this diplomatic source, the meeting was chaired by the director of the Directorate of Europe and Canada of the institution, Gisela García, and José de Castro, director for the Americas in the Directorate General of Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the European nation.

 

During the meeting, described as cordial, both sides discussed the positive state of bilateral relations and debated issues of mutual interest, including the strengthening of friendly relations and collaboration in various fields.

 

The Cuban side reaffirmed the will to maintain those ties based on mutual respect, cooperation, and dialogue, and thanked Portugal for its historic position in favor of the Cuban resolution condemning the U.S. blockade against the people of this Antillean nation.

 

For his part, de Castro reiterated his country's commitment to continue developing diplomatic, economic, commercial, and cooperation ties with the Caribbean Island.

 

Within the official program of the visit, other meetings with the First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Ana Teresita González, and with Emilio Lozada, Director General of the Bilateral General Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, are also scheduled (Source: Prensa Latina).
