Havana, Oct. 26 (RHC) European deputy Manuel "Manu" Pineda visited on Tuesday the western Cuban province of Pinar del Río, the most affected by the passage of Hurricane Ian, last September 27, where he expressed his solidarity and support for the population.

Pineda went to the municipality of San Luis, severely damaged by the hurricane with sustained winds of more than 200 kilometers per hour and heavy rainfall, which caused havoc in housing, economic infrastructure and services, and crops.

At that site, the Pineda learned about the progress of the recovery and reported to the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) from its institutional profile on Twitter.

Manu Pineda coincided with the Secretary of the Council of State and Parliament, Homero Acosta, who travels to those territories together with other legislators to support the recovery tasks.

The 57-year-old Spaniard maintains intense parliamentary work in favor of the Cuban Revolution and defense of the Caribbean nation's right to sovereignty and self-determination, and against the U.S. blockade.

Last November, the member of Izquierda Unida and the Communist Party of Spain visited Havana, where he met with Army General Raul Castro and President Miguel Diaz-Canel, as well as with the head of the National Assembly, Esteban Lazo, among other top leaders of the island.

During his stay, Manu Pineda toured places of historical, social, and cultural interest, and neighborhoods of the Cuban capital, where he attended community meetings and talked with the youth and student leaders. (Source: PL)
