CELAC demands Cuba's exclusion from U.S. unilateral list.

Buenos Aires, Oct 27 (RHC) The foreign ministers of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) demanded the United States exclude Cuba from the list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said Wednesday.

 

The head of the Caribbean island's diplomacy indicated on his Twitter social network that the endorsement of the Havana government occurred in the framework of the 23rd Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of CELAC, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

 

"They demanded the exclusion of Cuba from the unilateral list (that) the U.S. draws up of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism," Rodriguez said.

 

He stressed that the foreign ministers of the countries that make up CELAC "called for an end to the economic blockade against the island, highlighting the serious damage caused to the well-being of our people".

 

This Wednesday, the officials of the regional organization participated in the plenary session of their XXIII meeting, in which they ratified their commitment to develop joint policies to face the common challenges of the region.

 

This Thursday, the CELAC Foreign Ministers will hold the III Summit with their counterparts from the European Union (EU), also in the Argentine capital.

 

In the joint declaration following their XXIII Summit, the CELAC foreign ministers pointed out the importance of expanding ties with extra-regional partners, based on equity, inclusion, sovereign equality of States, and non-intervention in internal affairs, among other points. (Source: TELESUR)
