Havana, October 29 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today attended the closing ceremony of the 22nd International Meeting of Communist and Workers' Parties held at the Convention Palace in Havana.
During the meeting, which was attended by representatives of 73 political forces from 57 countries, the president declared that "our horizon continues to be socialist, even after the tragic disappearance of the socialist camp in Europe and the disintegration of the USSR and despite the fierce anti-communist campaigns."
"We appreciate the trust of those who gave the Communist Party of Cuba the opportunity to organize the meeting; while recognizing the efforts of those present to attend, in the midst of dramatic and extremely complex political, economic and social realities", he stressed.
During the closing day, the delegates unanimously approved a resolution condemning the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba and reiterated their solidarity with the Caribbean nation, at the proposal of the Communist Parties of Spain and Turkey.
