France Cuba Solidarity Association

Paris, Nov 2 (RHC) The France Cuba solidarity association today denounced the illegal and genocidal nature of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island, and demanded the end of that policy.

The organization ratified its position regarding the presentation and debate in the UN General Assembly this Wednesday of a new draft resolution on the need to put an end to the blockade. A similar report has been presented every year in that forum in the last 30 years.

For France Cuba, it is important to insist on the fact that the siege imposed by Washington for more than 60 years is still in full application, as well as on the resistance of the Antillean nation.

It also stressed that the severe consequences of the blockade do not prevent Cuba from prioritizing the welfare of its inhabitants in sectors such as health and education.

The French association repudiated the tightening of the blockade by the United States amid the Covid-19 pandemic and acknowledged the response of the Caribbean country, which despite these adverse circumstances and was capable of developing its vaccines to protect its population.

Likewise, the association denounced and condemned the extraterritorial impact of the siege, which also affects French companies, banks, and citizens.

Regarding tomorrow's vote in the United Nations on the draft resolution submitted for debate today, it expressed confidence in victory.

However, France Cuba assured that it does not expect changes in the short and medium term in the hostility of the United States towards the island, considering that Washington has ignored year after year since 1992 the almost unanimous support to the demand in the UN to lift the blockade.
