Havana, Nov 8 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla called for forceful decisions to confront climate change at the Summit on the subject being held in the Egyptian town of Sharm El Sheikh.

In his Twitter account, the Foreign Minister pointed out that "debates and negotiations at COP 27 should lead to substantial decisions to avoid the climate catastrophe we are heading for".

He added that "the contribution of developed countries by the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities cannot be postponed".

At the important meeting, it became evident that this principle continues to be violated and, according to Prensa Latina, developed countries are being targeted for their failure to comply both in terms of the reduction of polluting gases and the promised funds.

The rich nations agreed at the Glasgow summit last year to transfer 100 billion dollars a year to the less advanced ones, but this amount was never delivered, and a large part of the amount granted was loaned, a highly questioned issue at this event.

In the high-level segment of the event, the speeches of the heads of state and government of the nations of the South were marked by criticisms and calls to comply with the agreements adopted on this matter.

These countries are the most affected by climate change, although they are not among the largest emitters of greenhouse gases, which is one of the main causes of environmental deterioration. (Source: PL)
