Hanoi, Nov 11 (RHC) Da Nang wishes to cooperate with Cuba in health care, science, education, sports, culture, information technology, and clean agriculture, said the Deputy Secretary of the Communist Party Committee (VCP) and Chairman of the city's People's Council, Luong Nguyen Minh Triet.

The city also aims to boost people-to-people exchanges with the island to improve mutual understanding, Minh Triet added when receiving a delegation of the National Assembly of People's Power on a working visit to Vietnam, led by its secretary, Homero Acosta Alvarez, the day before.

However, the head of the People's Council noted that Da Nang has not yet established official ties of friendship and cooperation with any Cuban locality, and asked the visitor to help promote such ties and bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.

According to VNA news agency, Acosta Alvarez praised the achievements made by the Indochinese country after more than three decades of the Doi Moi (Renovation) process under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

He also highlighted the impressive development of that city and assured that he will continue working to promote cooperation between the Cuban localities and Da Nang, particularly in trade and business connectivity.

They have been very fruitful days, both the courtesy meeting with the president of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Vuong Dinh Hue, and the meeting with the secretary general and head of the Office of the National Assembly (Parliament), Bui Van, said Acosta Alvarez.

These meetings in which ideas, working methods, and experiences are exchanged contribute to the work of both legislative bodies, especially when dealing with two countries with so much tradition and history and that are true brothers like Cuba and Vietnam, he stressed.

The Secretary of the Cuban Parliament and the delegation accompanying him will travel today to the province of Can Tho and will conclude their stay next Saturday in southern Ho Chi Minh City. (Source: PL)
