Cuba calls for an end to measures that impede climate action

Havana, Nov 14 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Monday demanded an end to unilateral coercive measures that impede climate action by developing countries.

In a message on the social network, Twitter Rodriguez said that the application of these punitive policies limits national efforts to advance climate action.

He added that Cuba demands an end to these measures, incompatible with international law.

The statements of the head of the Caribbean island's diplomacy come as the negotiations of the 27th Conference of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (COP27) resume in Egypt.

This Saturday from the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh, where the summit is being held, the Cuban Minister of Science, Technology, and Environment, Elba Rosa Perez, called for a greater global effort to reduce emissions of polluting gases.

The high-ranking official pointed out that this effort must be materialized under the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, and the fulfillment of the financing promises of the rich nations. (Source: PL)
