Havana, Nov 18 (RHC) Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz headed the meeting to check the demographic dynamics in Cuba on Thursday at the Palace of the Revolution.
The search for strategies to face the aging population and to stimulate fertility in Cuba, as key factors in the attention to the demographic dynamics, continue as central axes of the Government's work, according to what was reported.
At the meeting, the results of the most recent actions for the follow-up of infertile couples in provincial and municipal clinics, and at the level of high-tech centers, were thoroughly evaluated.
They also reflected on the current situation of maternity homes in the country, the conditions of the 301 existing nursing homes, logistics, and constructive needs of the facilities throughout the country for the permanent care of the elderly.
Also present were deputy prime ministers, Inés María Chapman and Jorge Luis Perdomo, as well as ministers, and
specialists in education, health, commerce, economy and planning, and finance, among others.
During the meeting of the Government Commission for the Attention to Demographic Dynamics, the participants also learned about alternatives for the care of the elderly, and strategies that pose great challenges to governance and public policies in Cuba. (Source: Presidential website)
