ICAP president visits Vietnam

Hanoi, Nov 19 (RHC) The president of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), Nguyen Phuong Nga, told the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando Gonzalez, that courage and spirit of solidarity are two great contributions made by Cuba to world peace.

Numerous issues were discussed during the cordial meeting, in which the head of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations congratulated the island for its results in the fight against the U.S. blockade and the control of the Covid-19 pandemic, and reiterated her confidence that even amid such adverse circumstances Cuba will win.

In this regard, Gonzalez stressed that that predictable victory will be influenced by the lessons of Vietnam: from its tireless struggle and heroic resistance to achieve its independence to the achievements that this Indochinese nation exhibits today in its socio-economic development.

Fernando Gonzalez, a Hero of the Republic of Cuba also reiterated the gratitude of his country to Vietnam, its people, and, its organizations for all the help and solidarity provided spontaneously and sincerely, especially in the most critical circumstances the island went through.

"There has not been a difficult moment in which Vietnam has not been with Cuba," remarked Gonzalez, who also assured that the affection and solidarity are reciprocal.

The ICAP president also commented on the complex situation the Cuban economy is going through and mainly due to the impact of the intensified economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States, a persistent and extraordinary effort of the White House to suffocate the country.

In this sense, he pointed out that Cuba is working hard to find solutions and assured that "we are not going to give up, nor will we be defeated".
Whatever the difficulties may be, we are going to get ahead, and in this effort of creative resistance we are going to feel accompanied by Vietnam, as it has always been, he said.

During his stay in Vietnam, the ICAP president will also attend the 22nd General Assembly of the World Peace Council, which will be held in Vietnam for the first time in more than seven decades.

We are certain that Vietnam will be an excellent host of this event because it has a vast experience in the struggle for peace, for the achievement of which it made enormous sacrifices, he emphasized. (Source: PL)
