Havana, Dec 3 (RHC) During a meeting of the country's leadership with representatives of the business system held at the Palace of the Revolution in this capital, President Miguel Díaz-Canel, affirmed that promoting innovation in Cuba's companies is fundamental to achieve the development and prosperity that the country needs today.

The meeting, which took place on Friday in person and virtually, focused on the impact of science, technology, and research on the country's business system.  Díaz-Canel considered that "only with innovation we can overcome adversities " because it leads to achieve better results in any of the goals that Cuba sets in the pursuit of its prosperity.

He also pointed out that the socialist state enterprise can be stronger and distinguish itself from the rest of the economic actors to the extent that it can use scientific research and turn it into innovations.

He pointed out that science and innovation, digital transformation, and social communication are pillars of government management, and said that among the strengths of the country to move forward, is to have a regulatory framework for all aspects identified since the VI Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba in science and innovation.

He also considered that the development of localities - which the government seeks to promote - will not be achieved if science and innovation are not applied in that scenario.

He also referred to the concept of "creative resistance" which "does not mean to resist and resist: it means resisting, advancing, growing and developing because for us economic growth without social development makes no sense; it is growing, developing ourselves with our efforts and talent; and this implies innovation.

Díaz-Canel called on all business, government, and party cadres to be standard-bearers in the promotion of science and innovation.

The meeting was also attended by the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, the Vice President of the Republic, Salvador Valdés Mesa, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning, Alejandro Gil Fernández, among other officials. (Source: PL)
