Havana, Dec 15 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel urged the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) to move forward in the construction of an economic and trade route beneficial for all.

The Caribbean leader said that in 2023 the member states of this organization should make every effort to develop strategic, economic, and trade collaboration projects.

Díaz-Canel urged to continue promoting the political will to carry out these programs with determination as the leaders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, founders of this regional consensus mechanism, did before.

The Cuban leader spoke before high-level delegations from ALBA-TCP member countries who participated in an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (parliament) on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of this regional organization.

In his remarks, the head of state expressed his gratitude for the world's support and especially that of the ALBA-TCP countries in condemning the U.S. blockade and the unjust inclusion of the island in the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism.

He also reiterated the support and solidarity with Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Bolivia for their progress despite the attacks and coercive measures they had to face.

Díaz-Canel reaffirmed his support for the Caribbean peoples and their right to receive special and differentiated fair treatment for the challenges imposed by the effects of climate change and the unjust international economic order.
