Camagüey, Dec 23 (RHC) The Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, Cuban deputy prime minister, examined issues of great socioeconomic impact for the province of Camagüey and the country, such as the situation of electricity generation, the Housing program, and the progress of investment in the 26 de Julio Cement Factory in the municipality of Nuevitas.
During the meeting, the current status of the 10 de Octubre Thermoelectric Power Plant was reviewed, which despite contributing to the stability of the National Electric Power System (SEN) during the second half of this month, at this moment all three blocks are out of service.
Raúl Sánchez Reyes, general director of the Nuevitas CTE, explained to the vice prime minister that number four is proposed to be temporarily taken out of service due to deterioration in the upper thermal structure, while machine five has been out of the system since Thursday morning due to a boiler failure.
Valdés Menéndez learned about the behavior of the fundamental indicators of the Camagüey industry, which have been affected by the country's complex electro-energy situation, which has caused the plant to be below forecast.
In this regard, the Commander of the Revolution emphasized the correct planning of each of the repair tasks and maintenance schedules, so that they are carried out with the required quality and at the same time offer greater sustainability of the generating machines.
He qualified the above as a determining factor to maintain the levels that the country shows today, together with the different variants applied in favor of the SEN, such as distributed generation and the use of floating power plants.
Participating in the meeting were Yoseily Góngora López, governor of Camagüey province, Yelenys Hernández, member of the Cuban Communist Party Bureau in the territory and the government coordinators at that level who deal with the areas of Energy and Construction, and executives of the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
The modernization of the 26 de Julio Cement Factory was another item on Valdés Menéndez's agenda in Camagüey, together with executives of the Ministry of Construction and the companies in charge of these tasks.
Of great relevance within the investments made by the Antillean nation to revitalize the program of that sector, this one presents a general progress of 19 percent and its civil work is at 50 percent, with about 14 months left for its completion, according to Rudy García Arce, general director of the entity.
Amid the limitations with cement at the national level due to the low productive capacity that Cuba shows today, and other materials such as steel, the exploitation of the potentialities in Camagüey is insufficient to advance in the field of Housing which accumulates non-compliances in its main tasks such as execution of subsidies, the building of houses affected or destroyed by cyclones, and the state program.
Ramiro Valdés talked about this issue of high social impact with Nadiezda Guerra Abello, head of the Housing Directorate in the province, the governor, and other officials of the branch, and called to revitalize the sector without depending on national resources, to mobilize the mass organizations in the function of the tasks, besides creating community brigades and state entities to support.
The leader made particular emphasis on clay, abundant in the Camagüey region and which offers many possibilities in housing construction, but these benefits are not fully exploited. (Source: ACN)
