Paris, December 31 (RHC)-- The French association Cuba Linda on Saturday congratulated the Caribbean nation on its 64 years of Revolution and wished it success in 2023, after a 2022 of difficulties due to the U.S. blockade and adverse events.

The year that is ending was complex for the world and especially difficult for Cuba, which had to face not only an imperialist blockade more insidious than ever, but also several calamities, such as the explosion at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana, the fire at the Matanzas oil terminal and the destruction caused by Hurricane Ian in the west of the country, he stressed in a statement.

The organization created in 1998 to strengthen ties between both peoples highlighted the resistance of the Antillean nation and its achievements in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly the protection of the vast majority of its inhabitants with its own vaccines.

During the pandemic, with its economic consequences, the United States did not loosen its genocidal siege of more than 60 years, he denounced.

In that sense, Cuba Linda ratified its condemnation of the 243 measures imposed by the administration of Donald Trump (2017-2021) to tighten the blockade and the continuity of that hostile policy by his successor in the White House, Joseph Biden.

Likewise, he reiterated support for Cuba and its socialist Revolution and advocated for a 2023 of greater mobilization of the solidarity movement against the blockade applied by Washington, which he described as illegal and criminal.

With regard to its activities, the organization presided over by Didier Lalande, highlighted the sending to Cuba of 15 groups of French people who got to know the Cuban reality up close and the opportunity to participate once again in the May 1st celebrations in Havana's Revolution Square.

In his greeting to the largest of the Antilles, he acknowledged Cuba's solidarity with other peoples, despite the challenges it faces.

"Our struggle with Cuba is a battle for truth, justice and a better world," said the association.
