Paris, January 6 (RHC)-- The France-Cuba Friendship Group of the French National Assembly in its 16th Legislature is made up of 47 deputies from various political forces and tendencies, the parliamentary body publishes today.

The group is headed by communist leader André Chassaigne (Democratic and Republican Left), with Rodrigo Arenas (La Francia Insumisa), Eléonore Caroit (Renaissance), Frédéric Falcon (National Rally), Raphaël Gérard (Renaissance) and Frédéric Maillot (Democratic and Republican Left) as vice-presidents.

Almost all of the 11 political formations registered in the Legislature are represented in a group traditionally very active in the encouragement of parliamentary ties and cooperation between France and Cuba, as well as in the demand for the end of the U.S. blockade imposed on the island.

At the end of the year, Deputies like Chassaigne and Arenas participated in a press conference to denounce the economic, commercial, and financial siege applied by Washington for more than 60 years.

The Cuban ambassador to France, Otto Vaillant, congratulated the presidency of the group, greeted its members and thanked them for their solidarity with the Antillean nation.

The French National Assembly in its XVI Legislature counts so far with around 150 friendship groups.
