Havana, Jan 10 (RHC) Relations between Cuba and Azerbaijan are currently being strengthened with signs of solidarity, especially among members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Prensa Latina news agency exchanged via Whatsapp with Mahir Qurbanov, director of the Center for Caucasian-Ibero-American Thought, which intends to strengthen ties between Azerbaijan and Spanish-speaking countries.

The Azerbaijani thinker also emphasized that his country is preparing international conferences to exchange with experts and businessmen from these countries to invest in all regions and to cooperate in the economic sphere.

With dozens of coordinators in various states, the entity intends "to carry out political and economic analyses precisely in the South Caucasus, as well as to establish multifaceted cooperation with various centers and organizations of civil society and governmental agencies," the researcher said.

However, since 1991 with the separation of Azerbaijan and the disintegration of the USSR, relations with Cuba have been consolidated.

The cooperation ties transcend many spheres between the two countries beyond the political, and "we want them to continue in agriculture, culture, sports, including scientific collaboration and academic exchange".

For Qurbanov, this cooperation between non-aligned countries "will allow us to establish very important ties despite the geographical distance, as was confirmed by the medical brigade that was here in the middle of the pandemic" of COVID-19.

He also insisted on the respect and sovereignty of the political system of both countries.

"Solidarity must prevail among the countries of the NAM, we have condemned in the United Nations, the criminal blockade of the United States against Cuba," he said.

"We know that Cuba is a sister nation and that it has great potential, so this embargo as they call it, violates every principle of an international agreement, even the very Charter of the United Nations," he emphasized. (Source: Prensa Latina).
