Havana, Jan 11 (RHC) The deputy director general for the United States of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Johana Tablada considered that in 2023 there is an opportunity to improve ties between Havana and Washington.

The official stressed that if the U.S. government had the will to seize the moment, it should do so since there is never been greater pressure to put an end to the policy of abuse against Cuba.

Tablada commented that in 2022 the support of the international community to remove Cuba from the arbitrary list of countries sponsoring terrorism grew. Regarding this, she mentioned Los Angeles Summit and the letter of Latin American leaders.

She explained the importance of removing the island from that list as it would alleviate the negative extraterritorial impact on transactions, exports, trade, legitimate transfers, and investments.

She also said that expectations are growing thanks to the solidarity that exists in the northern nation towards Cuba.

She detailed that in 2022 many of our friends addressed their letters to the U.S. Congress, which caused congressmen to also send letters to President Joseph Biden demanding more aid to the island.

The diplomat recalled that these demands address the lifting of sanctions in the area of health, medicine sales, and food credits.

She said that thanks to these demands and to those who still join the cause, as in Latin America, the day will come when by their own will or in response to this pressure, the United States will drop the measures that hinder the life of the Cuban people. (Source: Radio Reloj)
