Havana, January 14 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres held talks Friday in New York about the objectives of the Island as president pro tempore of the Group of 77 + China.

On his Twitter account, the foreign minister said he held "a fruitful meeting" with Antonio Guterres, to whom he expressed Cuba's willingness "to work constructively in the face of the important processes that will take place at the UN, including the Summit of the Sustainable Development Goals."

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the core of the 2030 Agenda promoted by the world organization and show a comprehensive, indivisible look and a renewed international collaboration, to achieve sustainable development for all nations.

Rodriguez extended an invitation to the event that will be held this 2023 in Havana.   That meeting is one of the objectives proposed by Cuba under its presidency of the G-77, to promote the use of science and technology as drivers of sustainable development.

On Wednesday and for the first time, the island assumed the pro tempore presidency of the largest bloc of nations within the UN, with 135 members, which comprises around 80 percent of the planet's population and constitutes an important mechanism for concerted action in favor of developing nations since its creation.
