Peter Szijjártó, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade

Havana, Jan 18 (RHC) Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Peter Szijjártó, began a visit to Cuba on Wednesday, where he will hold official talks with authorities of the Caribbean nation.

The head of the Hungarian diplomacy arrived in this capital for the second time since his appointment as part of a tour of several countries of the American continent.

In September last year, Szijjártó met at the United Nations with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, during the 77th session of the General Assembly.

On that occasion, agreements were signed for diplomatic and educational training and both parties also ratified their willingness to strengthen bilateral political dialogue and promote economic, trade, investment, and cooperation ties.

During the 38th edition of the International Fair of Havana, authorities of the Central European nation pointed out the interest in increasing collaborative links in sectors such as water management, agriculture, and biotechnology.

The diplomatic relations between Hungary and Cuba were established on September 15, 1960, in Havana, when the then head of diplomacy, Raúl Roa, Ernesto Che Guevara, and other Cuban leaders received a Hungarian delegation. (Source: PL)
