Sucre, Jan 19 (RHC) Senator Pedro Benjamín Vargas said it is an honor and a responsibility to represent Bolivia at the V International Conference For the Balance of the World from the 24th to the 28th of this month in the Cuban capital.

"The designation by the president of our senate chamber, Andrónico Rodríguez, is also an opportunity to share criteria with the delegates to this prestigious theoretical event and with colleagues on how to work in favor of our people," he said in an interview with Prensa Latina.

Vargas reiterated his interest in the conference and the meetings with Cuban and other countries' legislators.

He insisted on the usefulness of collaboration, coordination of ideas, and efforts to build a better world for future generations. Emphasizing that this is his first visit to Cuba, he commented that he is traveling full of expectations because he will have the responsibility of representing his country.

Vargas expressed that Cubans and Bolivians are twinned by the idea of contributing to the progress and good of humanity on the road to what he called "living well".

He stressed that he feels great happiness to know directly people whom he described as fighters, hard-working and welcoming.

"We feel great admiration for Cuba because the leader of the Movement Towards Socialism-Political Instrument for the Sovereignty of the Peoples, Evo Morales, in his speeches always highlights the heroism of these people and the masterful influence of his great friend, Commander Fidel Castro," Vargas concluded.

More than a thousand delegates from 82 countries will participate in the V International Conference for the Balance of the World, to be held at the Palacio de las Convenciones, in Havana.

Convened by the Martí Project of World Solidarity, with the support of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, the event will be the culmination of the International Day in honor of the 170th anniversary of the birth of Cuba's National Hero José Martí.

According to Héctor Hernández Pardo, deputy director of the Office of the Martí Program, this is a form of plural and multidisciplinary thought, in which all the important issues of the contemporary world will be addressed, and will have the largest attendance since 2003.

The debate will include some 360 presentations that will address the need to balance the world from different contemporary issues. (Source: Prensa Latina).
