Manuel Marrero chairs the first meeting of 2023 with mayors and governors.

Havana, Jan 27 (RHC) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz held a meeting with the country's governors and mayors.

According to a report by Cubadebate, the head of government was accompanied by Salvador Valdés Mesa, vice president of the Republic, and Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power.

Vivian Rodríguez Salazar, general director of Housing, informed that last year more than 20 thousand houses were completed, 55 percent (%) of the planned plan, and only the provinces of Cienfuegos, Sancti Spíritus, and Matanzas made progress.

Among the projections for this 2023 is the completion of buildings with greater use of new forms of management and popular participation, prioritizing the solution of pending climatological affectations in all territories, as well as guaranteeing housing rehabilitation actions to eradicate conditions of vulnerability, he stated.

Marrero Cruz reiterated that this is one of the problems that most impact the population and in which not enough progress has been made, so he called for the implementation of different work systems, based on the local production of construction materials.

Other issues discussed were the contracting of agricultural production, which to date has only delivered 37% of what was planned, and reference was made to comply with the Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security Law.

There is an urgent need to achieve municipal self-sufficiency, and for this purpose, integrative actions are necessary to use, in the shortest possible time, the autonomy granted to the territories by the Constitution of the Republic, said Valdés Mesa.

Meisi Bolaños Weiss, Minister of Finance and Prices, reiterated that amid the deficits of supply and agri-food production, there are elements that can help to overcome the situation, such as limiting prices and their impact on the population.

We have to look for alternatives that can allow us to eliminate intermediaries because if we continue looking for agreements, after a long chain between the producer and the final consumer in the market, we are not going to solve the price problem either, she said. (Source: ACN).
