Havana, Feb 3 (RHC) After addressing issues such as educational challenges for the countries of the South in the post-pandemic context, the meeting of Education Ministers of the G77+ China held as part of the 18th Pedagogy 2023 Congress concluded its discussions at the Havana Convention Palace.

In his remarks, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla highlighted the inequalities that still hinder access to education for children, adolescents, and young people around the world.

He highlighted the need to defend and promote universal access to inclusive, equitable, and quality education throughout life as a human right for all, the value of the teacher as an essential force in the teaching process, and the importance of consolidating ties of cooperation between nations in the field of education.

The event was the perfect opportunity to consolidate ties of cooperation and solidarity among delegates from Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. During the meeting of the Ministers of Education of the G77+ China, they approved a final declaration, which was read by the Cuban Minister of Education, Dr. Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella.

The recognition of the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on education systems, the urgency of moving towards a true transformation of education, as well as the importance of guaranteeing funding in education to maintain high-quality standards were the essence of the declaration.
