Santiago de Chile, Feb 11 (RHC) A very important contribution of the Cuban Revolution is the training of doctors from several countries in the world, said Saturday Elizabeth Molina, from the Chilean Association of Parents of Graduates of the Latin American School of Medicine - ELAM.

In declarations to Prensa Latina, Molina recalled that more than 640 Chileans graduated from ELAM, created after the passage of hurricanes George and Mitch through Central America and the Caribbean in 1998.

"Our organization emerged in 1999 with the first group of students who received scholarships and during all these years we have been working for solidarity with Cuba," she said.

She referred to the campaign developed here in favor of the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the Henry Reeve medical brigade, during which they were deployed throughout the country to disseminate the achievements of the Revolution.

More recently, when the Covid-19 pandemic spread throughout the world, we promoted, together with the solidarity movement, Cuban residents, and social organizations, the shipment of supplies to the island and we managed to collect 1,900,000 syringes for vaccination, she said.

Molina highlighted the contribution of doctors who graduated on the island to the collection of funds, medicines, and materials destined for hospitals in the Caribbean nation.

At the end of January, and following the request of solidarity groups and collectives, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Health arranged a donation of medical materials and supplies for those affected by the accident at the Matanzas supertanker base, she explained.

The member of the Association of Parents of ELAM Graduates condemned the blockade maintained by the United States against Cuba for more than 60 years.

"The blockade is an inhuman action, which attacks the population and limits its possibilities of accessing material goods, and in that sense, it is a great violation of human rights", she denounced.

Despite this unjust policy the Cuban people became stronger and has known how to maintain their Revolution, she pointed out. (Source: Prensa Latina).
