Beijing, Feb 24 (RHC) Cuba's first deputy minister of Energy and Mines, Javier Ruben Cid, met with representatives of various Chinese companies and briefed them about the process to boost foreign investment, diplomatic sources reported on Thursday.

Sources from the Cuban Embassy noted that the official visited the headquarters of the Taiyuan Iron & Steel Group company, met with its president, Sheng Genghong, and explained the country’s efforts to achieve economic development.

During the meeting, they reviewed various issues related to bilateral cooperation, since the firm is a strategic importer of Cuban nickel.

The Cuban Embassy also noted Cid’s talks with executives from the China National Petroleum Corporation, the Great Wall Drilling Company, and China National Huacheng Energy Group Con., Ltd, among other meetings. The first deputy minister is on an official visit to China, where he has met with leaders of several companies, including China National Hunched Energy Group Con., Ltd, to follow up on recent cooperation agreements, and reviewed the possibilities of executing projects to use renewable energy sources.

The parties reviewed new cooperation proposals with Cubaniquel, Geominsal, and Cupet, which are linked to the exportable lines of these industries, as well as the supplies of materials for them and the promotion of plans to expand bilateral exchanges.

Cid’s visit to China aims to advance the implementation of the consensus resulting from Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel’s visit to Beijing in 2022.

His agenda also includes meetings with authorities from the National Energy Administration, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Commerce. (Source: PL)
