José Martí Journalism Awards
Havana, Feb 25 (RHC) Through his Twitter account, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, congratulated the winners of the José Martí and Juan Gualberto Gómez awards.
The Cuban leader congratulated the winners of the Journalism awards for Work of the Year and Lifetime Achievement.
The José Martí Award was conferred to Marina Menéndez (Juventud Rebelde newspaper); José Antonio Fulgueiras (Latin American news agency Prensa Latina); Roberto Ferguson (Cuban television news system), Juvenal Balán (Granma newspaper) and Héctor Ochoa, cameraman and documentary filmmaker.
The Juan Gualberto Gómez National Journalism Award went to Dalia Reyes (radio Villa Clara; in graphic journalism, to Enrique Lacoste ( Palante newspaper); in hypermedia to Talía Fuentes (Cubadebate website) and in photojournalism to Ricardo López, of the Granma newspaper.
Abdiel Bermúdez was also awarded; as well as Guillermo Carmona of the Girón newspaper in Matanzas province.
The José Martí National Journalism Award is the highest individual recognition granted by UPEC to its affiliates for their work in Cuban press media and their contribution to exceptional social transcendence.
The Juan Gualberto Gómez is the highest award granted by the organization to recognize the work of its members in the preceding year. (Source: PL)
