Cuban delegation in Qatar meets with medical professionals

Havana, Mar 8 (RHC) The Cuban delegation that is participating in the 5th United Nations Conference of the Least Developed Countries (LDC) met on Wednesday with Cuban healthcare professionals working in Doha.

Headed by Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca, they met with a representation of the Cuban medical collaborators who are rendering their services at a hospital in Durhan.

The delegation was briefed about the work they are doing during the return to normal after the Covid-19 pandemic.

On his Twitter account, Malmierca noted the spirit of work and solidarity of the Cuban medical staff.

He also visited a new and modern hospital in the Qatari town of Tanbak, where a group of Cuban doctors is working, and where 80 percent of the institution’s staff is expected to be Cuban.

During the difficult times of Covid-19, 52 doctors, 292 nurses and two medical technology graduates from 15 Cuban provinces worked in Qatar.

At that time, the members of the “Henry Reeve” International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disasters and Serious Epidemics performed 836,855 procedures, attended to nearly 154,000 patients, and saved 3,411 lives.

Cuba and Qatar have more than three decades of uninterrupted diplomatic relations and their cooperation is evident in both the field of bilateral relations and multilateral forums. (Source: Prensa Latina)
