Havana, March 20 (RHC) The Cubadisco International Music Industry Fair is coming today to all the island's provinces, in order to have a broader and more diverse sample of specialists.

According to the organizers, this journey through the Caribbean nation is the prologue of an event that will take place from May 6 to 14 and will bring the public closer to the news of the local sound scene, promote the catalogs of the phonographic labels and stimulate academic exchange.

In 2022, a virtual platform began to function, in which all the professionals related to the island's music industry can register. This increased the number of voters and guarantees a democracy in the process. As a result, the number of people involved in the selection of the pieces registered in a dozen areas increased: heritage, academic, jazz (instrumental), songwriting, fusion, urban music, audiovisual, general, simple, among others; which integrate more than 30 categories.

For approximately one month, the national union of voters, made up of specialists associated with record production, music, audiovisuals and dissemination, will score the works, in order to define the official candidates for the awards.

As every year, the International Prize will be awarded to phonograms by foreign authors and performers who creatively reflect the most authentic musical values. Also, the organizing committee will grant several collateral awards and the expected public award, which will be announced at the ceremony organized in the context of the Cubadisco 2023 International Fair.
