International Seminar on Journalism and Tourism will meet in Havana

 

Havana, April 27 (RHC) - The 16th International Seminar on Journalism and Tourism will meet in Cuba from June 19 to 23 with the presence of communicators from various countries, especially Latin Americans.

Organized by professional entities and by the José Martí International Institute of Journalism, the event will discuss current trends in the travel industry.

The call by the Union of Cuban Journalists’ Specialized Section on Tourism Journalism specifies that top-level experts will propose answers to the questions indicated as topics for the meeting.

Among the topics planned are the prospects for tourism in 2023 and 2024 in the Caribbean and the world; strategies adopted by the main hotel chains; actions by the no-chimney industry in Cuba to recover the markets lost during the pandemic; and the participation of social communication in this challenge.

This meeting between journalists, communicators, community managers and other professionals will be an ideal space to analyze tourism trends and evaluate the role of information and communication technologies from three points of view: tourists, hotel management and social communication.

New technologies multiply features and quality of services from the time the vacationer searches for destinations until they reach rooms equipped with the latest home automation offers. It also transforms the management of hotels, airlines, travel agencies and specialized journalistic communication.

Representatives of the Ministry of Tourism, technology companies and hotel chains will present development plans for this industry in Cuba, including the project to convert Cayo Largo del Sur into the first smart tourist destination in the Caribbean.

Guests and participants from Latin America and the Caribbean will also examine the information and communication channels and options that, with social networks.

The appointment will take place through conferences, panels and exhibitions in the morning session, while in the afternoons and evenings, the attendees will make visits to reference hotels. The program also includes meetings with new players in the Cuban economy -private micro, small and medium-sized enterprises-, as well as tours of centers of cultural interest in Havana and a night at Tropicana, the most famous nightclub in Cuba.

On the other hand, the participants will visit the Vardero spa in the western region of the country. The Costillar de Rocinante Student Residence, attached to the José Martí International Institute of Journalism, will host the meeting. (Source: Prensa Latina)
