Cuban authorities congratulate fathers on their day

Havana, Jun 18 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel today congratulated fathers on their day.

In the Caribbean nation, the date is commemorated every third Sunday of June to reciprocate the affection and dedication of children to their parents.

For his part, the president of the National Assembly of People's Power (parliament), Esteban Lazo, also congratulated Cuban parents, especially those who serve as deputies and delegates of the legislature.

He also recalled a phrase of Cuba's National Hero, José Martí, who said: "The qualities of the parents remain in the spirit of the children".

Likewise, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez gave special greetings to the fathers who work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who are devoted to the defense of the revolutionary foreign policy and whose example shortens distances and inspires, he said.

The first commemoration of the anniversary in the Caribbean nation took place on June 19, 1938, at the initiative of writer and artist Dulce María Borrero, who advocated the generalization of the tribute. (Source: Prensa Latina)
