Havana, July 1 (RHC)-- Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) today published on its website the draft law on the Military Penal Code to promote citizen participation and contribute to raising the legal culture.

According to a note published by the legislative body, the norm will be submitted for analysis and discussion by the deputies next July 3, with a view to its presentation in the first ordinary period of sessions of the 10th Legislature.

The Governing Council of the People's Supreme Court delivered the bill to the President of the National Assembly, Esteban Lazo, on May 11, in accordance with the provisions of Article 164 of the Constitution of the Republic.

For the elaboration of the law, a temporary working group was formed since November 2021, made up of representatives of the People's Supreme Court, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic, the Chief Military Prosecutor's Office, the Ministries of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Interior and Justice, among other institutions.

The Parliament states that the draft law was prepared taking into account a broad national and international biography, the treaties signed by the Cuban State related to the proposal, as well as documents derived from the development of international law.

Citizens may express their opinions on the normative provision by sending an e-mail to comunicacion@anpp.gob.cu.

The draft law on the Military Penal Code is a continuation of the judicial and procedural reform initiated in the 9th Legislature of the Parliament of the Caribbean nation. (Source: Prensa Latina)
